Therapy for Trauma

Trauma can affect so much more than the moment when something happened. It can shape how you see yourself, how you relate to others, and how safe you feel in the world. Maybe you feel like you’re always on edge, have a hard time trusting people, or find yourself reacting strongly to things that seem small to others.

At The Curious Cat Therapy, we believe there’s a reason you respond the way you do based on what you’ve been through. You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

Are you finding yourself…

  • Feeling on edge, easily overwhelmed, or constantly watching for what might go wrong?

  • Having strong emotional or physical reactions to certain people, situations, or reminders?

  • Experiencing unwanted memories, flashbacks, or nightmares?

  • Struggling to trust others or feel safe in relationships?

  • Feeling disconnected, numb, or like you’re going through the motions?

  • Blaming yourself or feeling ashamed about things that happened to you?

  • Finding yourself stuck in patterns that you know aren’t working but have difficulty changing?

  • Having difficulty setting boundaries or advocating for yourself?

  • Feeling like past experiences are still affecting how you respond in the present?

At The Curious Cat Therapy, we take a curious, compassionate approach to trauma. We’ll explore what you’ve experienced, how it may still be showing up in your life, and the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself along the way. Therapy can be a place to make sense of your story without having to rush through it. Together, we’ll work at a pace that feels manageable while building tools to feel safer, more grounded, and more connected to yourself and the people around you.

About Adriana

Hello! My name is Adriana Lara and I am the owner of The Curious Cat Therapy, offering counseling services for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Tampa and provide virtual therapy in Florida, New York, and Massachusetts.

I work with  folks who are feeling stuck and can’t seem to get out of their own way. I meet people where they are, helping to sit with the feelings to be able to let go of the hurt, pain, or frustration. My approach is warm, I will challenge you, while using a dash of silliness and humor.

At The Curious Cat Therapy we lean into curiosity to explore what has led you here. As a therapist, I try not to take life too seriously. I believe humor can help ease tension, create connection, and make it a little easier to talk about the hard stuff. I’ll help you recognize your strengths, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build tools you can actually use in everyday life.
